Description

These Air Fryer Chicken Tenders are a healthier alternative to deep-fried chicken, delivering a crispy golden exterior and tender, juicy interior. Coated in a flavorful mixture of Panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, and smoked paprika, these tenders are quick to make and perfect for a family meal, appetizer, or snack. With minimal oil and maximum flavor, they’re a hit with both kids and adults.

Ingredients

9 pieces chicken tenders

1 large egg, beaten

½ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon smoked sweet paprika

¼ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup + 1 tablespoon Panko breadcrumbs

Kosher salt, to taste

Ground black pepper, to taste

Olive oil or spray

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken Tenders: Pat the chicken tenders dry with paper towels to help the coating stick better.

  • Set Up the Breading Station: In one shallow bowl, beat the egg. In another shallow bowl, combine the garlic powder, smoked paprika, flour, Panko breadcrumbs, salt, and black pepper.

  • Coat the Chicken: Dip each chicken tender into the beaten egg, ensuring it’s fully coated. Then dredge the chicken in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing down slightly to ensure an even coating. Repeat with all the chicken tenders.

  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.

  • Cook the Chicken Tenders: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil. Place the breaded chicken tenders in a single layer in the basket, ensuring they are not overlapping. Lightly spray the chicken tenders with olive oil for a crispy finish. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and fully cooked.

  • Serve: Remove the chicken tenders from the air fryer and let them rest for a minute before serving. Serve with your favorite dipping sauces like honey mustard, ranch, or BBQ sauce.

Notes

Spicy Tenders: Add cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, or hot sauce to the breading for extra heat.

Gluten-Free Option: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour for a gluten-free version.

Extra Crispy: For an even crispier texture, dip the tenders in the egg and breadcrumb mixture a second time before air frying.
