Ingredients
- 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
- 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure even baking.
2️⃣ Prepare the Apples
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin, uniform pieces for even cooking.
- In a large bowl, combine the apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- Toss gently to coat all pieces evenly.
3️⃣ Prepare the Puff Pastry
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets to about ¼-inch thickness, maintaining their rectangular shape.
4️⃣ Assemble the Bake
- Place one puff pastry sheet on a parchment-lined baking tray.
- Spoon half of the apple mixture onto one side of the pastry, leaving a border around the edges for sealing.
- Fold the empty half of the pastry over the apples, covering them completely.
- Press the edges together firmly to seal, using a fork for a decorative edge if desired.
- Repeat the process with the second puff pastry sheet and remaining apple mixture.
5️⃣ Add Egg Wash (Optional)
- Beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water or milk to create an egg wash.
- Brush the top of each pastry with egg wash for a golden, glossy finish.
6️⃣ Bake
- Place the baking tray in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.
7️⃣ Serve & Enjoy
- Allow the bake to cool slightly before slicing.
- Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
