Ingredients

1 ½ to 3 pounds of flank steak

½ cup soy sauce

½ cup balsamic vinegar

¼ cup lemon juice

¼ cup brown sugar

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

¼ cup olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, brown sugar, garlic, oregano, pepper, and olive oil.

  2. Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over the meat.

  3. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for more intense flavor.

  4. Preheat your grill or stovetop to medium-high heat.

  5. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.

  6. Grill the steak for about 4-6 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for your preferred doneness.

  7. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.

  8. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Storage/Reheating: Leftover marinated flank steak can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, gently warm it in a skillet over low heat or in the microwave to avoid overcooking.

  • Variations: For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or chopped jalapeño to the marinade. You can also infuse fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for an extra fragrant twist.
