Description

Chicken Parmesan Calzone combines the crispy chicken tenders, melted mozzarella, and tangy pizza sauce all wrapped in a buttery, golden crust. This comfort food twist on the classic chicken Parmesan makes for a delicious and easy meal that’s perfect for lunch, dinner, or any time you crave cheesy, crispy goodness.

Ingredients

  • Flour for dusting: To prevent the dough from sticking while rolling.
  • 8-ounce bag shredded mozzarella cheese: For a melty, cheesy filling.
  • 1620 ounces pizza dough: Store-bought or homemade.
  • 67 fully cooked crispy chicken tenders (sliced): A savory, crispy protein.
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese: Adds a salty, nutty flavor.
  • 3/4 cup pizza sauce: Tangy tomato sauce for the base.
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted): To brush on the dough for a golden crust.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Cook frozen chicken tenders per package instructions, slice them, and set aside.
  2. Roll the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12-inch circle.
  3. Spread 1/2 cup pizza sauce on one half of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
  4. Layer with 1 cup shredded mozzarella, 1/3 cup grated Parmesan, and sliced chicken tenders.
  5. Fold the dough over the filling, press edges to seal, and crimp with fingers or a fork.
  6. Place the calzone on a greased baking sheet. Brush with melted butter and cut 3 small slits on top for steam.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes. Afterward, spread the remaining 1/4 cup pizza sauce on top, sprinkle with remaining mozzarella, and bake for another 10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  8. Cool for 5-7 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Add extra veggies like mushrooms or spinach for more flavor.
  • To make it spicy, include red pepper flakes or pepperoni.
  • You can make mini calzones instead of one large one.
  • Homemade pizza dough works great if preferred.
  • Marinara sauce can be used in place of pizza sauce.
