Description

Churros with Chocolate Sauce are a crispy, golden fried dessert coated in sugar and served with rich, homemade chocolate dipping sauce. This easy churro recipe is perfect for parties, holidays, or indulgent snacks—fun to make, naturally vegetarian, and absolutely irresistible!

Ingredients

For the churros:

1 cup water

½ cup butter

1 cup flour

1 tsp sugar

¼ tsp salt

2 eggs

Oil for frying

½ cup sugar (for coating)

For the chocolate sauce:

1 cup chocolate chips

½ cup heavy cream

Instructions

Make the churros:

  1. Make dough: In a saucepan, bring water, butter, sugar, and salt to a boil. Reduce heat and stir in flour until it forms a ball.

  2. Add eggs: Let cool slightly, then beat in eggs one at a time until smooth.

  3. Heat oil: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep skillet or pot.

  4. Pipe and fry: Pipe dough strips into hot oil using a piping bag with a star tip. Fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden.

  5. Coat: Drain and roll warm churros in sugar.

Make chocolate sauce:

  1. Heat cream: In a small saucepan, bring cream to a simmer.

  2. Melt chocolate: Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips until smooth.

  3. Serve: Serve churros with warm chocolate sauce for dipping.

Notes

Add cinnamon to the sugar for classic cinnamon sugar churros.

For a spicy twist, add a pinch of cayenne to the chocolate sauce.

Vegan alternative: use dairy-free butter, milk, and egg replacer.

To bake: Pipe dough onto a baking sheet and bake at 400°F for 20–25 minutes.

Store churros in an airtight container for 1–2 days or freeze for longer storage.
