Description

This Creamy Ground Beef Orzo is a quick and comforting one-skillet dinner made with lean ground beef, rich tomato sauce, tender orzo pasta, and a creamy finish. High in protein and ready in just 30 minutes, it’s the perfect recipe for busy weeknights or cozy meal prep.


Ingredients

1 lb lean ground beef

1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1 tsp dried basil

½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

1 tbsp tomato paste

1 cup uncooked orzo

1 (14 oz) can tomato sauce

1 cup beef broth

1 cup heavy cream

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

2 cups fresh baby spinach

Salt and black pepper to taste


Instructions

  • Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned; drain excess fat.

  • Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.

  • Stir in garlic, Italian seasoning, basil, and red pepper flakes; cook 1 minute.

  • Add tomato paste and cook for another minute.

  • Mix in orzo, tomato sauce, broth, cream, and Worcestershire sauce; stir well.

  • Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Add spinach and cook until wilted.

  • Season with salt and pepper, serve hot with optional herbs or cheese.

Notes

Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.

Substitute heavy cream with non-dairy milk for a dairy-free version.

Add extra vegetables like zucchini or mushrooms for more nutrients.

Store in the fridge up to 3 days, or freeze for 1 month.

Reheat with a splash of broth to loosen the sauce.
