Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a large bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add sugar, salt, and flour. Knead into a smooth dough for 8–10 minutes.
- Cover and let rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
Step 2: Roll and Layer
- Divide the dough into 8–10 equal portions.
- Roll each portion into a thin rectangle and spread softened butter over the surface.
- Roll each rectangle into a tight log and cut lengthwise to reveal the layers.
Step 3: Shape and Bake
- Coil the cut dough halves into greased muffin tins, placing the exposed layers upward.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Allow cruffins to proof for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
Step 4: Add Fillings and Serve
- Once cooled, use a piping bag to fill cruffins with jam, Nutella, or custard.
- Dust with powdered sugar for a sweet finishing touch.
