Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch bundt pan or two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar mixture, alternating with small amounts of milk until everything is well combined.
- Divide the batter into two bowls. In one bowl, add cocoa powder and a bit of milk to create the chocolate batter.
- Alternately spoon dollops of the vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared pan(s), then use a knife or skewer to swirl the two batters together.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes (for round pans) or 50-60 minutes (for bundt pan), or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra chocolatey goodness, add chocolate chips to the batter.
- Add frosting options like chocolate ganache or a dusting of powdered sugar for extra sweetness.
