Description

This creamy Chicken Cordon Bleu features tender chicken, savory , melted Swiss cheese, all breaded and baked to golden perfection. Topped with a rich, creamy garlic mustard sauce, it’s an indulgent dish that’s surprisingly simple to make. Perfect for impressing guests or enjoying a comforting meal at home!

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter

For the Creamy Sauce:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Pound each chicken breast to ½ inch thick and season with salt and pepper.
  • Lay a slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast. Fold over and secure with toothpicks.
  • Dredge the stuffed chicken in flour, dip in beaten eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs.
  • Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat. Brown each chicken breast for 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Transfer to a baking dish and bake for 15-20 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  • For the sauce: In the same skillet, sauté garlic, then add chicken broth, heavy cream, and Dijon mustard. Simmer for about 5 minutes until thickened.
  • Remove toothpicks from chicken and serve with sauce, garnished with parsley.

Notes

  • Cheese Substitutes: Use mozzarella, provolone, or gouda for a different flavor.
  • Healthier Option: Swap heavy cream for half-and-half or milk for a lighter sauce.
  • Extra Fillings: Add spinach or mushrooms along with the  cheese for a flavor boost.
