Ingredients

  • 3 ripe pears
  • 150 g sugar

  • 100 ml milk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract (or vanilla sugar)

For the Caramel:

  • 100 g sugar
  • 50 g butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pears:

    • Peel and thinly slice the pears.
    • In a pan, melt 100 g sugar over medium heat until it turns golden brown.
    • Stir in 50 g butter to create a smooth caramel.
    • Add the pear slices, coat them in caramel, and cook for a few minutes.
  2. Make the Cake Batter:

    • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a cake pan.
    • In a bowl, beat 100 g butter and 150 g sugar until light and creamy.
    • Add the eggs one by one, followed by the vanilla extract.
    • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with 100 ml milk. Mix until smooth.
  3. Assemble the Cake:

    • Pour the caramelized pears into the prepared cake pan, spreading them evenly.
    • Pour the cake batter over the pears.
  4. Bake the Cake:

    • Bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool & Serve:

    • Let the cake cool slightly before inverting it onto a serving plate.
    • Serve warm or at room temperature.
