Description

This Honey Garlic Chicken recipe is a quick and easy weeknight dinner featuring juicy chicken thighs in a sticky, savory-sweet glaze made with honey, garlic, soy sauce, and ginger. Ready in just 35 minutes, it’s a flavorful, family-friendly dish that pairs perfectly with rice, noodles, or vegetables.

Ingredients

¼ cup soy sauce

½ cup honey

2 teaspoons sesame oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon grated ginger

6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs

3 tablespoons olive or avocado oil, separated

1½ teaspoons kosher salt

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon onion powder

2 teaspoons cornstarch

1 tablespoon water

Optional garnish: chopped cilantro and green onions

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Whisk soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, garlic, and ginger in a bowl. Set aside.

  • Pat chicken dry and rub with 1 tbsp oil, salt, garlic powder, pepper, and onion powder.

  • In an oven-safe skillet, heat 2 tbsp oil over medium-high heat. Sear chicken thighs skin-side down for 3 minutes, then flip and sear another 2 minutes.

  • Pour the sauce over the chicken.

  • Transfer skillet to oven and bake for 20–25 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

  • Remove chicken. Mix cornstarch with water, stir into sauce over medium heat until thickened (2–3 minutes).

  • Return chicken to skillet, spoon sauce over, garnish, and serve.

Notes

For a leaner option, use boneless skinless thighs or chicken breasts.

Make it spicier with extra red pepper flakes or sriracha.

Can substitute tofu or cauliflower for a vegetarian version.

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for 2 months.

Reheat in a skillet or microwave until warmed through.
