- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ cup hot fudge sauce, plus extra for drizzling
- Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream Butter & Sugar: Beat softened butter and sugar with an electric mixer for 3-4 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Add Eggs & Vanilla: Beat in eggs, one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Mix in Buttermilk & Fudge: Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the batter, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir just until combined—do not overmix.
- Swirl in Hot Fudge: Gently fold in the hot fudge sauce, creating swirls. If using, fold in chocolate chips or nuts.
- Bake: Pour batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool & Serve: Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Drizzle with extra hot fudge before serving if desired.
