Description

These Korean Milk Cream Donuts are soft, fluffy yeast donuts filled with lightly sweetened whipped cream and a drizzle of condensed milk. A popular bakery-style treat, these indulgent donuts are perfect for any occasion and can be customized with different flavors and toppings!

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 240g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 25g (2 tablespoons) granulated sugar
  • 6g (2 teaspoons) instant dry yeast
  • 90ml (⅓ cup + 1 tablespoon) warm milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 35g (2½ tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted

For the Filling:

  • 450ml (1¾ cups) heavy whipping cream
  • 50g (¼ cup) granulated sugar
  • Condensed milk, for drizzling

For Frying & Garnish:

  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, egg, and melted butter.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and yeast.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
    • Knead the dough until smooth and elastic (about 8-10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes with a stand mixer).
  2. First Rise:
    • Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1.5 to 2 hours until doubled in size.
  3. Shape the Donuts:
    • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to ¼ inch thickness.
    • Use a round cutter to cut out donut shapes and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Second Rise:
    • Cover the shaped donuts with a towel and let them rise for 30 minutes until slightly puffed.
  5. Fry the Donuts:
    • Heat vegetable oil to 325°F (163°C) in a deep pan.
    • Fry donuts 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
    • Transfer to a wire rack to drain and cool completely.
  6. Prepare the Filling:
    • Whip heavy cream and sugar until stiff peaks form.
  7. Assemble the Donuts:
    • Slice each donut horizontally, leaving a hinge on one side.
    • Drizzle condensed milk inside.
    • Pipe or spoon whipped cream into the center.
    • Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add vanilla extract or cinnamon to the dough.
  • For a fruity twist, add sliced strawberries or bananas inside the donuts.
  • For a baked version, bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes instead of frying.
  • To stabilize whipped cream, mix in 1 teaspoon of bloomed gelatin before whipping
