Description

Nun’s Puffs are light, airy, and buttery pastries with a delicate sweetness. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon snack, these puffs are simple to make and incredibly delicious. With a golden, crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy interior, they are perfect for any occasion—whether you serve them with sugar or glaze for extra sweetness.

Ingredients

1 stick butter (½ cup)

1 cup milk

¾ cup all-purpose flour

4 eggs

½1 tablespoon sugar (optional)

Sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

. Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease or line a muffin tin with paper liners.

2. Melt Butter and Heat Milk:

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the milk and heat until it begins to simmer (but not boiling). Remove from heat.

3. Mix the Flour:

Stir in the flour, mixing until a smooth dough forms. Cook for 1-2 minutes over low heat, stirring constantly to avoid sticking.

4. Add the Eggs:

Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding the eggs, one at a time. Stir each egg in fully before adding the next. The dough should be smooth and glossy.

5. Add Sugar (Optional):

If desired, add ½–1 tablespoon of sugar for a slightly sweeter puff and mix until combined.

6. Spoon into Muffin Tin:

Spoon the batter into the muffin tin, filling each cup about two-thirds full.

7. Bake the Nun’s Puffs:

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up. Do not open the oven door for the first 20 minutes to ensure they rise properly.

8. Sprinkle with Sugar:

Sprinkle sugar on top of each puff while still warm for extra sweetness.

9. Serve:

Allow the puffs to cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm!

Notes

Flavor Twist: Add vanilla extract, lemon zest, or almond extract for a new flavor profile.

Savory Version: Omit sugar and serve with savory fillings like cheese or herbs.

Cinnamon Sugar: For a fun twist, top with cinnamon sugar instead of regular sugar.
