Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef
2–3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup onion, diced
1 small green cabbage head, chopped (about 4 cups)
2 (14.5 oz) cans diced tomatoes
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
-
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef with the onions and garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and crumbly (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess grease.
-
Add chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, paprika, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
-
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and cover. Let it simmer for about 30 minutes or until the cabbage is tender.
-
Serve as is or over a bed of rice for extra heartiness.
Notes
Add cooked rice directly to the pot for a complete meal in one.
For extra flavor, top with shredded cheese and let it melt before serving.
Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
