Description

This Orange Hot Chocolate is a cozy, indulgent winter drink that combines the rich, creamy texture of hot chocolate with a refreshing citrus twist. Inspired by Terry’s Chocolate Oranges, the orange extract adds a bright, zesty flavor that pairs perfectly with the smooth cocoa. Topped with whipped cream and orange slices, this drink is perfect for chilly nights or holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate bar)
  • 2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)
  • Orange slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Add water to a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Add cocoa powder, sugar, and chocolate chips.
  • Whisk constantly until the chocolate chips melt and form a smooth chocolate syrup.
  • Pour in milk and heat until steaming, then remove from heat.
  • Stir in orange extract and vanilla extract (optional).
  • Serve immediately, garnished with whipped cream and orange slices.
