These ultimate chocolate brownies are rich, fudgy, and easy to make with pantry staples. Perfect for any occasion, this no-fail brownie recipe is loaded with semisweet chocolate chunks for the ultimate gooey treat.


Ingredients

¾ cup baking cocoa

½ teaspoon baking soda

⅔ cup butter (melted and divided)

½ cup boiling water

2 cups granulated sugar

2 large eggs (room temperature)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1⅓ cups all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup coarsely chopped pecans (optional)

2 cups (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chunks


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 13×9-inch baking pan.

  • In a large bowl, stir cocoa and baking soda. Add ⅓ cup melted butter and boiling water. Mix well.

  • Stir in sugar, eggs, remaining ⅓ cup melted butter, and vanilla.

  • Mix flour and salt, then gradually add to cocoa mixture.

  • Fold in pecans (optional) and chocolate chunks.

  • Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan.

  • Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until brownies pull away from the pan’s edges.

  • Cool completely in the pan before slicing.

Notes

Omit pecans for a nut-free version.

For cleaner cuts, chill brownies before slicing.

You can substitute butter with margarine if needed.

Add extra chocolate chips, peanut butter, or fruit for variation.
