Description

Churros Poppers are crispy, bite-sized fried treats coated in cinnamon sugar. These quick and easy dessert poppers are perfect for satisfying sweet cravings or sharing at gatherings, with options for dipping sauces like chocolate or caramel.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup water
  • 2½ tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture:
    • Combine ½ cup sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon in a bowl or bag; set aside.
  2. Heat Oil for Frying:
    • Pour 2½ inches of oil into a heavy pot or deep fryer and heat to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Make the Dough:
    • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2½ tablespoons sugar, salt, and vegetable oil.
    • Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
    • Stir in flour until the mixture forms a smooth ball.
  4. Form Dough Balls:
    • Once the dough is cool enough to handle, scoop and roll into walnut-sized balls. Use a cookie scoop for uniformity.
  5. Fry the Poppers:
    • Fry 3-4 dough balls at a time, turning occasionally, until golden brown.
    • Remove with a slotted spoon and toss immediately in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve warm with dipping sauces like chocolate, caramel, or dulce de leche, if desired.
