Ingredients
- 12 ounces spaghetti (or preferred pasta)
- 6 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional: Red pepper flakes for heat
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Boil salted water in a large pot, cook pasta until al dente, and reserve ½ cup of the pasta water before draining.
- Prepare Garlic Butter Sauce: In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter with olive oil. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to brown it.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the drained pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat. Gradually add reserved pasta water for a smooth sauce.
- Incorporate Cheese & Seasonings: Stir in Parmesan until melted. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Plate the pasta, garnish with fresh parsley, and optionally sprinkle red pepper flakes. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Swap spaghetti with linguine, fettuccine, or penne.
- Add grilled chicken, shrimp, or mushrooms for protein.
- For a baked version, top with mozzarella and broil until golden.
- Make it vegan by using dairy-free butter and cheese alternatives.
