Ingredients
- 8 cups Crispix cereal
- 2 cups pecan halves (salted preferred)
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
Instructions
- Preheat your oven: Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the Crispix cereal and pecan halves. Set aside.
- Make the praline coating: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and corn syrup. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once boiling, cook for 4-5 minutes without stirring.
- Add vanilla and baking soda: Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will bubble up—be careful!
- Coat the cereal mixture: Immediately pour the praline mixture over the cereal and pecans. Stir gently to coat everything evenly.
- Bake: Spread the mixture evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure the coating evenly coats the cereal and pecans.
- Cool: Remove from the oven and allow the Praline Crunch to cool completely on the baking sheet. The coating will harden as it cools.
- Serve: Once cooled, break into pieces and serve. Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
Notes
- Add Chocolate: Drizzle melted chocolate over the cooled Praline Crunch for an indulgent touch.
- Other Nuts: Feel free to swap pecans for cashews, almonds, or walnuts for a different flavor.
- Spices: Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the caramel coating for extra warmth.
